THAILAND DIVING DESTINATION

Some info about Diving Thailand Phuket. The Blue Label Diving shop is located on Rawai Beach down South of the Island of Phuket. Its a vibrant place with many great restaurants, also liked by many locals, great night life but still a village kind of feeling about it.

DIVING IN THAILAND

Phuket is perfect for a combination with traveling and sight-seeing or even climbing. The green forest vegetation extending down to limestone cliffs and pure white beaches lapped by warm, turquoise waters, the coasts of  Thailand are a tropical paradise with spectacular waterfalls and coconut palms bending towards the sun.

SIMILANS

Phuket is sort of close, 3hrs drive, to Khao Lak where you can find the Liveaboards, like THE JUNK to the Similan Islands. The actual boat trips can take up to 5 hours overnight of by speedboat 2.5 hours during the day.  The Similans are open for diving from November till the end of April. Some people think you can do day trips from Phuket, but we as Blue Label don’t recommend this as its just too far. Min 3 night Liveaboard trips are recommended.  The MV GIAMANI does 4D/4N trips to the Similans from Phuket from October to May.

HIN DAENG & HIN MUANG

If you would like to visit Hin Daeng and Hin Muang you got to travel down to Koh Lanta and arrange a dive trip from there. Also they have the same high season as the Similans. Some Liveaboards, from May – October, like the JUNK or the PHINISI or THE MV GIAMANI do trips to His Daeng from Phuket and are definitely worth your while.

PHUKET

Phuket is 365 days a year diving. There are many dive boats around. From 20 diver boats up to 70 diver boats. From 120 US$ up to 180 US$ trips. All the dive boats cater snorkelers and most of them technical divers as well. This makes Phuket the perfect diving, recreational and family destination.

At Blue Label Diving we use these boats for our technical diving courses to 50 meters depth. Everything beyond takes place in the South of thailand.

Private speedboats are definitely an option and if you have your own Yacht we can teach on your own vessel in your own comfort.

Phuket, a rainforested, mountainous island in the Andaman Sea, has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches, mostly situated along the clear waters of the western shore. The island is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants. Patong, the main town, has a more casual vibe and is filled with wild nightclubs, bars and discos.

Western Phuket (Bang Thao, Kamala, Karon, Kata, Laem Sing, Mai Khao, Nai Thon and Nai Yang, Patong, Surin)
This region is what Phuket is known for the world over. There is a variety of beaches, some calm, some totally ruined by millions of visitors each year. Patong is one of the party capitals of Asia.

Southeastern Phuket (Chalong Bay, Cape Panwa, Nai Han, Rawai, Ya Nui) Blue Label Diving Location
Slightly off-beat beaches that are worth the trip. Chalong Bay is the largest town that acts as a harbour for outgoing boats to Phi Phi island and others south islands.

Interior Phuket (Bang Rong, Ko Sire, Phuket Town, Phra Taew National Park, Thalang)
Besides Phuket Town, the interior of Phuket is pretty much unvisited by foreign visitors. This fertile hilly expanse consists of mangrove forests, fishing villages, rubber and pineapple plantations, small Muslim communities and shrimp farms. The Phra Taew National Park is a nice escape from the tourist crowds, as is the Gibbon Project.

Small islands southern-eastern Phuket and Phang Nga Bay (Ko Bon, Ko Hae, Ko Lon, Ko Mai Thon, Ko Racha, Ko Maphrao, Ko Naka, Ko Yao, Ko Panyi, Ko Tapu (James Bond Island))
Famous for its beautiful beaches, clear water, coral forests, pearl farm, limestone cliffs, caves, mangroves, fishing villages and national park.

If you are more interested in a private charter, there are many options these days. Catamarans, Speed Boats, Luxury yachts, Phuket has it all.

CHALONG BAY

Most of the diving is from Chalong Bay in the South of Phuket. If you have not rented a car, the dive centers can pick you up in the morning and drop you off at the end of the day. Chalong Bay is 50 min away from Patong, 30 min away form Phuket Town, 15 min away from Rawai and Nai Harn and if you are staying in Surin you have to calculate an hour or more to get down to the pier.
The tranquility and natural splendor of the Thai coast and its islands belongs in the realm of fantasy.

In the unlikely event that the weather is not good enough for diving, due to waves, we are one of the only dive centres in Phuket and surroundings that can take divers down to the fresh water lakes of Song Hong.

CAVE DIVING

Blue Label Diving dives these lakes on a monthly basis as we also do our cave diving courses in there. Song Hong is 4 hours drive and Krabi is about 3 hours drive from our shop in Rawai Phuket. We can also combine diving in Phuket with the fresh water lakes. Best of both worlds.
