Sidemount course

TDI ADVANCED SIDEMOUNT

The TDI Advanced Sidemount Diver Course, available in Phuket Thailand and written by Ben Reymenantsoffers the same benefits as the TDI Sidemount Diver course but gives you the opportunity to dive with 4+ cylinders for extended dive times instead of 2.

This course is a distinctive specialty explanation which means that only a few instructors can teach this course and TDI doesn’t have set standards and regulations for this course.

What is different from a regular Sidemount course

You will learn how to dive with more than 2 cylinders, different configurations, staging and gas switches, trim streamlining and advanced finning techniques.

The Advanced Sidemount Diver course is a great way to get started into technical diving because the skills you learn in this course will train you to handle multiple cylinders on a single dive.

Combination with other technical courses

Most Sidemount divers are good with diving Sidemount when doing their Advanced Nitrox Course or Decompression Procedures, but once getting in to more than 3 tanks things are becoming more difficult. Also during the Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures the instructor will not focus on the sidemount diving as there is enough other skills to learn. The Advanced Sidemount is only focussed on the sidemount diving side.

You can combine what you learn in the Advanced Sidemount Diver course with other open-circuit tech courses that you take, or certifications  you’ve already earned, to take advantage of sidemount’s cylinder configuration and handling advantages.

Who is it for

This course is recommended for Technical Divers that are Sidemount certified to become cave divers or Advanced Nitrox Divers that would like to do their Extended Range or Trimix 60 course on Sidemount.
