This week in Bunaken… Actually Blue Label Diving Indonesia wasn’t on Bunaken that much this week as we started some technical diving courses on Siladen. Using the facilities of the Siladen Resort & Spa, Blue Label Diving instructors Hiro and Sandy are teaching the Poseidon MK6 rebreather course and introducing guests staying there to sidemount diving. The reefs and fish remain the same, but the resort and island offer a change for technical divers coming to North Sulawesi for technical diving.
Blue Label instructor Hiro got out the Poseidon MK6 rebreather this week and has been back and forth to Siladen Resort & Spa teaching the owner, Daniele, how to enjoy diving the silent way. Daniele has been living on Siladen for over 10 years now and is hoping to find something new to bring back his passion for diving. Ultimately, he’s hoping to use a rebreather to go and find hammerhead sharks that are meant to be in this area of Bunaken National Park.
Meanwhile, as Hiro was busy going over all the do’s and don’t’s of rebreather diving, instructor Sandy was introducing the guests on Siladen to sidemount diving in the pool. Over 7 people turned out to try sidemount with a lot of teenagers giving it a go this time as well! As usual, there was a lot of smiling and amazement over just how easy diving with two tanks can be.
Back on Bunaken things are being prepared for July and all the technical diving students coming for several different trainings. We’ll be running several TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses, Sidemount and Tec Sidemount Courses, as well as PADI Tec 50 courses during the month of July. If you are interested in learning tec there’s no better time than now. Additionally, you now have 3 different locations to choose from in North Sulawesi Indonesia!
