SSI Nitrox Course – Diving with Enriched Air
As a technical dive center, it is only natural for Blue Label to offer the SSI Nitrox course. Nowadays, enriched air nitrox (shortened to EANx or Nitrox) is becoming the most popular gas mixture used in recreational scuba diving. Taking only half a day and one training dive to complete, we normally incorporate this specialty into a package with other courses like the Open Water course and the Advance Adventurer course.
Just like air, Nitrox is a air mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. However, in a nitrox gas mixture we will increase the oxygen percentage in a mixture to more than 21%, causing it to be “richer”. Using nitrox will allow you more bottom time by decreasing your no-decompression time, among other perks.
The are two level of recreational nitrox, which is level one (Nitrox 32) and level 2 (Nitrox 40) respectively. If you only have only half a day to finish the theory without doing the training dive, we will certify you as a Nitrox 32 diver. This means you can only dive using nitrox mixture of 32% oxygen. By completing theory and training dive, you will obtain the Nitrox 40 certification, which clears you to dive with 40% O2.
