Director Blue Label Diving Australia
I head up the Blue Label Diving Australia team from Brisbane, Queensland where some of the very best diving in Australia can be found. In the winter months the sand tiger sharks school in great numbers, the autumn sees hundreds of whales migrate up and down the coast and the summer welcomes Mantas and leopard sharks in abundance. With wrecks, artificial reefs and some of the most diverse ecosystems of the entire great barrier reef – it’s an outstanding place to train and dive.
However, warmer blue waters were not where it all started for me. Heralding from the cold green seas of the United Kingdom, I’ve been an instructor for over 15 years and diver long before that. Whilst always an avid wreck diver, my interest in advanced diving started with the release of the very first Drager dolphin rebreather units back in 2000 and was often to be found testing its limits on the wrecks of the Red Sea as well as at home.
I continued to teach part time as the diving in the UK with his wife Michelle, however still kept my day job of a private investigator. Diving in the UK can be great, but it’s never going to pay the bills.
In 2008 I moved with my wife, Michelle, to Brisbane Australia to focus full time on my professional diving career. I consider myself one of the luckiest guys with a wife who is also an instructor and understands the madness and passion for diving.
I’m a PADI TecRec & TDI and CCR Technical Instructor. I am an instructor for the Innerspace Systems Corp Pathfinder, my unit of choice, the Dive Rite O2ptima and MK VI Discovery but I hold diver ratings on numerous units, including the ISC Megalodon, Sentinel Expedition & Inspiration, When not found on my rebreathers I use sidemount as my preferred open circuit configuration and am a Dive Rite Instructor for the Nomad system and the XDeep Stealth 2.0
At a diver level I’ve completed a number of expeditions, most recently Thailand jungle, France southern cave systems and the Maldives Blue Holes. I continue to have a personal ambition to push my own personal limits and constantly educate myself beyond the level I teach and believe strongly that people looking for training in this area of diving should ask what experience the instructor has.
I continue to teach many of the Australian Blue Label Courses personally and would only be too pleased to help you with any aspect of advanced diving.
